Work/Field Experience:
During the school year, I am a high school science teacher with Newark Public Schools, where I work with students of diverse ages and learning styles. In addition to teaching, I have served as a varsity head swim coach and assisted with soccer and cross-country coaching. After school, I also serve as an Enrichment and Academics Coordinator for Hockey in NJ and help develop year-long programming that exposes student-athletes to cultural arts, community volunteer projects, and social recreation. These experiences have strengthened my ability to prioritize clear communication and teamwork in high-energy settings.

Outside of the classroom, Sofia is an outdoors enthusiast who loves staying active. Whether she is swimming laps, hitting the trails for a run, or traveling across the country, she practices what she preaches when it comes to health and wellness. She is a firm believer that a great summer starts with staying safe while also being ready for any adventure.
